Congénies and Le Carriere du bon temps

Congenies

We slept well in our beds at Centre Quaker de Congenies. I woke at 1:00am and decided to see how clear the stars were. They were lovely but I then could not get back to sleep.

Waking early I headed to the local boulangerie which was called Amandine. The bakery opens at 0630 and has a lovely range of breads and pastries. The Pizzeria near by was closed which meant I could get a photo of the complete mural painted on their wall.

This painting on the wall of the dining room at Congenies captures the Meeting House wonderfully.

In spiring the daffodils are nearly finished flowering and the tulips are still looking spectacular.

I cycled with Mum down the Voi Vert to the supermarket at Calvisson. It is an excellent off road cycle route between the vilages near Congenies.

In the afternoon we all took bikes to Junasand the Quarry at Bon Temps (le Carriere du Bon Temps). The quarry is now closed and has become a great venue for walks and music festivals. The stone masons return to carve sculptures.  In amongsth the large stone blocks or Pierres there are alos lovely trees for climbing and sculpures and features carved into the cliffs of the quarry.

Here is a lovely little house carved at the cottom of a stone pillar.

The quarry is vast and very impressive.
