After we left the beach the clouds cleared and I donned my sunglasses and straw sun hat for exploring the squares and cool narrow alleyways between spectacular buildings.
This is the viaduct.
The botanical gardens were cool and peaceful. University students had test planting beds in a large formal garden in front of the Orangery. There were real oranges.
