Avigon
The public transport in the Gard region of the South of France is very good. For E15 we were able to buy 10 x 2h eTickets for the bus. Two of these tickets at E1.50 each were sufficient to take us from Congenie to Nimes on the 141 and then from NImes to Avingnon on the 151 bus.
Avignon is a city of artists and theatres. We passed around 20 small theatres and the Opera during our short visit.
From seeing theatres and water wheels we visited the indoor food market, Les Halles, Avignon and then got an excellent hot falafel wrap.
Heading up the hill we found the Roches des Dom above the Palais des Papes. This was a beautify garden even in teh rain with lovely views down over the river and Avignon.
The Palais des Papes was huge and very impressive however we were tired and did not feel we had enough time to explore it properly. So we headed back to the station past the old Mint which is now the Conservatoire, the Opera and the Musée Lapidaire with a good collection of Greek, Roman and Egyptiam sculpture, ceramics and glassware.
